Ten Films We Would Take to a Deserted Island!

Nancy started this one. . .which ten films would you take with you on a deserted island? These don't have to be the ten films you think are the best, just films you could watch over and over and over

Project 2162 is dead. Long live Project 2162!

Well, due to a number of circumstances beyond my control, the latest iteration of the fashion game, Project 2162, seems to have fizzled out. But I've decided to use the blog as general goof off space for me and my friends! Which leads me to our next "Project" . . . .

And the Winnder [and Loser] is. . .

The winner of the first round of Project 2162 was Joy! Congratulations! She gets a pat on the back and bragging rights for a week or two!

And with a winner, must a loser follow. And the loser is Nancy. Sorry, better luck next time. . .well, there won't technically be a next time for you, but you get the picture.

And now on a personal note, I apologize for slacking on this project. We're already two weeks behind, and it's my fault. So, in a effort to get this train back on the tracks, your next look is due by Saturday, July 18th. I've already gotten one submission, so this means you Heather & Joy.

And another change, the next look might change, as well as the voting mechanism. I'll have to review my notes and I'll post the changes very shortly.

So, Make It Work!

Wednesday, June 24, 2009

Okay, let's try this voting thing! I've never done an online poll, but it should be one person, one vote, open to everybody.

Also, try to visit the links and we'll make some $$ to serve as a prize for this!

Week 1, Contestant 4

Contestant 4 also chose not to include a description or inspiration, but the detail in this wine, brown and blue number is unmistakenly youth oriented. Notice the ribbon detail on the shoe echoed in the belt!

Week 1, Contestant 3

Contestant 3 chose noto include any inspiration, but let me say, the use of color in the dress is subtle yet beautiful. The picture doesn't do it justice, but it's as georgouse as a wedding cake!

Week 1, Contestant 2

This entry is a vision in brown and baby blue--omg--the same colors as the Jonathan Adler at our favorite bookstore! Was this the inspiration?

Here's what the contestant wrote:
"My inspiration for this outfit was the stereotypical idea of ballerinas and tulle: tulle being the main component of tutus and crinolines. By using light, sheer fabrics, a mock tutu was created. Floating, layered and bouncy a modern fashionable ballerina skirt is born. A form-fitting yet airy champagne colored top mimics a leotard. Incorporating tulle as an accessory on the top of the blouse (the tulle stripes) adds a bit of charachter and draws the eyes to the models strong shoulders. Snd what ballerina is compleatet without a flower? The shoes used in this in this design are Christian Louboutin sandals. This dancer-like shoe also incorporated the "ballerina" theme and its blue and gold colors complent the overall palette."

Week 1, Contestant 1

Here's the first entry to the first week of Project 2162! Althogh this contestant didn't provide a background or inspiration paragraph, I think the included photographs tell the whole story!

Sunday, June 14, 2009

I just received a two part question, that I'll answer for all contestants:

"1. Can I just attach a picture of the shoes, or must I make model-scale sized shoes?

2. Do I attach the description paragraph to the model?"

to which I answered:

"1. Make a model-scaled pair of shoes to the best of your ability, and attach a picture of what you intended and I'll post to the contest blog, and

2. A few sentences to describe your vision will help ppl judge your look. I'll type them up and include them on the blog."

NOTE: You guys can include a picture of two of inspiration looks or anything you think might help ppl understand your vision!

3 Haute couture (French for "high sewing" or "high dressmaking") refers to the creation of exclusive custom-fitted clothing. Haute couture is made to order for a specific customer, and it is usually made from high-quality, expensive fabric and sewn with extreme attention to detail and finish, often using time-consuming, hand-executed techniques
